About this work
The piece refers to the unrealized project by Konstantin Melnikov, "Sonata of sleep" (1929). This plot, sinister enough, was a health resort for sleep treatment, a huge dormitory, where hundreds of people had to sleep healthy and collectively under accompaniment of specially selected, live performed music and sounds of nature. The composition is ghostly monotimbral; its form is built as a serie of asymmetrically nested concentric circles: each type of material is concentrated in its place, and extends back and forth, interacting with other types.
